Cruise Countdown

I have been horrible lately, what with tons of birthdays and Girl Scout cookies and Valentine's Day and Easter all within the last few months.  But we have a cruise coming up so as of today, I am recommitting to my weight loss efforts.  My plan is to post almost daily with the Title being "__ Days to Go" or something similar.

It's so frustrating.  We've planning this cruise for give or take a year now and I was supposed to lose like 30 pounds by now.  I haven't lost anything.  And now with only 67 days to go I'll be lucky to lose 10 pounds, but that's my goal.  10 pounds in the next 67 days.  Starting now.

Starting Over Again

I've been horrible since my last post.  This is such a hard time of year.  I know it's no excuse but it is.  My birthday, Valentine's Day, the girls' birthday, Girl Scout cookie season, Paul's birthday and Easter.  Ugh.  Last Saturday we went out to dinner with friends at the Melting Pot to celebrate Paul's 50th birthday, then on Sunday we went to his parent's to celebrate with them and instead of his mom baking a cake herself like she usually does they had bought a Costco cake which, a) I absolutely LOVE and b) they are huge, so we ended up bringing a bunch home.  I tried to freeze a bunch of it but took some out to thaw on Tuesday, Paul's actual birthday, so we could have some on the actual day and sing and everything, but then we just kept eating it every day until it was gone.

Anyway.  The only thing left now is Easter, and tomorrow is the first of a brand new month so it's time to get serious.  I really want to lose at least 10 pound by mid-July.

So Much for That

Last Wednesday I was down 6.2 pounds.  Then Paul and I had a (rare) date night Friday night, and it was the last weekend of Girl Scout cookie sales and we bought several boxes as a last hurrah.  And no surprise I was up 3 pounds today.  Then I had a pretty good day today until I got home from work, had a healthy dinner, then got into the cookies again.  Oops.  They should be gone soon and it's too late to get any more.  Just in time for Cadbury Crème Egg and Mini Eggs season.  Great.

Shingles

So it turns out I have Shingles, they think.  There is nothing to get a culture of (no pus or anything) but they think that's what it is and I have to follow up with a dermatologist to be sure.

In other news, I'm down 6.2 pounds!  I somehow lost 3 just since Saturday.  Woo-hoo!

Missed

Ok, I missed a few days of my trying to blog daily for the rest of March.  I came down with a weird ear thing, not sure if it's an infection of some sort or a bug bite or what (been to the walk-in clinic and they don't know either.  Going to my primary care doctor today).  So I've been a little under the weather, plus we had a busy weekend of Girl Scout cookie sale booths and a birthday party.

Anyway, on Saturday I was down another 0.2.  But then yesterday I treated myself to an apple fritter.  Oops.  But overall I did ok over the weekend.

Three Pounds

I'm really tired and heading to bed but I had to write my daily post.  I've lost 3 pounds since Monday.  That usually happens when I first start.  Obviously it will slow down.

Fitting in Fitness

I used to be a regular exerciser.  I even kind of enjoyed it.  I even trained for and ran in my first 5K back in 2012 or 2013.  But ever since I started working 3 years ago I have found it VERY hard to fit it in.  My evenings are full of fixing, eating and cleaning up after dinner, helping with homework and bathes or showers, making lunches and other next-day prep and folding laundry and other household stuff.  So I do what I can, which is take the stairs at work and walk on my lunch break.  Sometimes, when the weather is not that cooperative, that means going down to the parking garage and walking
laps.  Whatever works!

The Gym

Just a quick post to say that I made it to the gym today for the first time in...I'm not sure...maybe a year?  All I did was walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill but at least it's something.  I've done other things in that time like walk or bike outside but I just haven't set foot in the gym until today, finally.  Woo-hoo!

Like I said yesterday, I am going to try and post every day for the rest of March.  That means that most posts will just be a short paragraph to get something down but I hope it will help keep me motivated.

Yesterday was day 1 of getting back on track after too many Girl Scout cookies and other bad eating and I'm already down 2 pounds.  That is all for today.

New Goals

Today I am making yet another fresh start.  I have set two new goals.  One is to blog here every day for the rest of March and the other is to lose at least 10 pounds by the time we go on our cruise in July.

This is always a bad time of year for me, with my birthday, the Superbowl, Valentine's Day, the Oscars, the girls' birthday, Girl Scout cookie season (my girls are Scouts and so we are required to sell them thus they are always around) Paul's birthday and Easter all crammed into about two and a half months.  I've had a rough couple of weeks but I am determined to get back on track as of today.

Starting Over

I joined Weight Watchers a year and a half ago.  A few times since then I've been down 6 or 7 or 9 pounds, but then I gain it back.  As of today I am exactly one pound less than when I started (at home.  On their scale I was 0.2 more).  I am sick and tired of going around in circles.  And since it's the start of a new year, it's obviously a great time to recommit to my weight loss efforts.  So today I made a point to polish off a bag of salted caramels so they won't be around tomorrow and I will make a fresh start.
